Exquisitely hand-carved by local artisans out of stone, this sculpture depicts a Janger dancer and captures the poise and tranquility of the young woman. The dancer conveys a state of spiritual bliss complimented by the dancer’s exotic costume and dazzling headdress.
The Janger dance is a traditional dance which first appeared in the 1920s. The women sit and harmoniously sway to the men’s chanting.
All pieces are traditionally handcrafted which is why no two pieces are the same. Each has a slight difference in size, shape and/or color contributing to the uniqueness and originality of each beautiful piece.
Each beauteous piece is disctint by nature which provides ordinary but noticeable fissures adding a charming hint of ageing to the stone.
