This statue from East Timor is handmade from Jackfruit wood. The carvings are made using traditional ethnic techniques. The religious significance is that the statue is believed to be a representation of an ancestral figure.
All pieces are traditionally handcrafted which is why no two pieces are the same. Each has a slight difference in size, shape and/or color contributing to the uniqueness and originality of each beautiful piece.
