This fascinating ceremonial mask from Papua is made of coffee bean shells and cowrie shells embroidered on a crochet base. Complimented by a nose piercing handcrafted out of sea shells, the mask is traditionally worn in dances during ceremonial occasions. Nose piercings symbolises masculinity and serves a purpose of instilling fear in rivals.
