Worn by the men of Papua in traditional ceremonies, this hat is made from Cassowary feathers, bark wood, and shells.
The Cassowary bird is native to the tropical forests of New Guinea (Papua & Indonesia), East Nusa Tenggara, the Maluku Islands, and northeastern Australia.
All pieces are traditionally handcrafted which is why no two pieces are the same. Each has a slight difference in size, shape and/or color contributing to the uniqueness and originality of each beautiful piece.
This hat measures 17 cm in diameter and 55 cm in length, stand inclusive.
