A symbol of social status and wealth - horses hold great significance within the Sumba society.
Hand-carved by local artisans using traditional techniques, this horse head is made of Suar Wood, more commonly known as flare wood and is complimented by the intricate shells adorning the top of the horse head.
All pieces are traditionally handcrafted which is why no two pieces are the same. Each has a slight difference in size, shape and/or color contributing to the uniqueness and originality of each beautiful piece.
