Medicine Brown Horn Box

Made of Buffalo bone and black horn, this exquisite piece from Papua, is used to store traditional drugs with medicinal effects which have been made by the Shamans of the Papuan Tribe. Shamans hold an influential role within the tribe as they are believed to have access to the world of spirits. The practitioner interacts with the spirit world through altered states of consciousness with the objective of directing the spiritual energies to the physical world for healing.

The intricate hand carved design of the horn is complimented by the man like figure made of Buffalo bone.

All pieces are traditionally handcrafted which is why no two pieces are the same. Each has a slight difference in size, shape and/or color contributing to the uniqueness and originality of each beautiful piece.
